Re: Lion Air: How could a brand new plane crash?
The open question with Lion Air 610 seems to be though, why, if the computer was confused, the crew was unable to go manual and fly the plane back. They were not far from the airport, visibility was good, weather was good, so why not?

Re: Oumuamua mystery
The intriguing part for me is not the idea that it is maybe artificial. I mean, at those speeds, even if someone built it, he can't sail on it and still be alive, so no talk over a coffee with an alien anyway. But the idea of a sun sail per se ... I mean,, look around, how much of our technology was...

Re: Spring 2019
I don't want to be the party pooper here, but whatever people "on the other forum" suggest or don't suggest, we haven't seen too many ATCS from them since years during the past festivals and in the last one, since IAHM-COL was blocked by private reasons in real life (which was, if I count ...

18 hours in the air would make me probably homicidal. The only way to transport me on this route is probably sedated!

Re: rethinking aerodynamics, or the unattached vortices
The fun part about academic science is, we know only one thing for sure: The certainty of today is the error of tomorrow. So, scientists found out a lot of things, they do so every day. But every time, someone claiming to be a scientist (with or without title) starts a sentence with "I believe&...

Re: Lion Air: How could a brand new plane crash?
It will take months till we get the full report, but let me look at some things we learned from the past in general: 1.) Any new plane model is for a while a little bit more vulnerable to pilot errors and pilot mis-reactions in case of a crisis. For example the British Midlands crash basically happe...

Re: The Festival | 2018
I am online in Oslo, ENGM, but right now, it feels like the last of the Mohicans. So well, it is the last Festival anyway, as far as I can see. Like everything else, the Festival organization has not survived the era of Discord. So, take this as the last few chords of a swansong.
