@TheFilipinoFGPilot: Hi! Awesome work and 3D objects! Can you bring it to Scenemodels?

Catalanoic. you are being silly with this now.

It is clear that FilippinoPilot takes no positive side to attempt at pushing these models in the database at all.
You probably missed what the whole problem is, and thus do not shame to come and pester him with this "petition" that ends up sounding like an instruction.

The situation is that the Scenery Database is not allowing the author to have any control of the final output of his work. Throwing a 3d model you spent hours modelling, texturizing and locating in the proper place so it looks neat, and then wasting time to put it on a database that limits your ability to control how your airport renders to FlightGear is quite insane.

The reality is that FilippinoPilot already added an explanation to the readme of the zip file:
https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-SCENERY/RP ... README.txt
Wont work if you don't have the terragit scenery,

download terragit on www.github.com/FGMEMBERS-TERRAGIT

RPVM is located under the e120n10 scenery tile

You are asking him to spend extra time unneccesarily just to get RPVM to look like this in terrasync, after all his hard work

That is just silly!! :ugeek:

@TheFilipinoFGPilot

Really beautiful work

I did the following

1. Added your content to a StandAlone Repository

The StandAlone repository allows you to continue development on this, and more importantly it will work as a FG scenery package (even for those do not use terraGIT)
To achieve this better, the content was formatted in the terraGIT way, and the Terrain of the corresponding tile was added.

https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-SCENERY/RPVM-fg-CustomScenery

2. I edited the Repository with new content

This includes
1. I added the Project3000 objects to Cebu airport, which populates your airport rather nicely
2. I changed the textures from jpg to png in the models
3. To better format this in a terraGIT ready content, your terminal model was switched from SHARED to a more correct STATIC mode

https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-SCENERY/RP ... 10/e123n10

For these reasons I hardly recommend you continue your work starting from the content on the repository. Feel free to fork to get a repo of your own, or send me a github account and I give you push permissions to the whole FGMEMBERS-SCENERY collection, which now includes Cebu

[b]3. I added the content as it is in the meantime to terraGIT

Pilots using terraGIT can now update the world or this area to rapidly, effectively, and correctly get your airport

Code: Select all

git pull
install/tile e120n10

5. The bug in the Cebu hills

I noticed I had a terragear bug and elevation was not taken when I built RPVM
I will have to fix this .
Maybe we wait for D-ECHO's Philippines project, which will allow us to fix this much better.
Don't worry, later, I'll fix the elevation of objects with an script.

Have fun, and thanks a lot,

Hey all!
Here is the first output of the scenery:
It's not that good atm as the data isn't the good, but now I have the toolkit to re-generate it with better airports or terrain data..
It can be found here: https://github.com/ProjectPhilippines/P ... hilippines
Please notify me of any issues (failures etc.) in the landscape :D and please note that I WILL TRY to get all content that'll be present in this repository into terrasync. Not because I endorse it, what some might think, but because it's better to get to MORE USERS :D
Regards

great Job, D-ECHO

I will test, and then rebase over TerraGIT so we get these better airports :p

@D-ECHO

What compelled you to use the SRTM-3 data from USGS.gov, instead of the one in panorama viewfinder?

https://github.com/ProjectPhilippines/P ... nes-SRTM-3

That is a rather inconvenient decision, since you've picked up a source for elevation that is totally different to that used accross the Globe in FlightGear scenery (both terrasync and terraGIT use panorama viewfinder!)

I think this makes your elevation profile totally incompatible with the other sources, and hard to merge appropriately.

Are you able to reconstruct this using correct elevation sources?

@IAHM-COL: I made a petition, not a order. can you...if possible...please.... I find more silly to explain with text and pictures why mediocre in a capitalist world to upload GPL material to a FG centralised database (remember the people behind please) when is the ONLY way for newbies (a lot of people) to get scenery just installing the FG main software by themselves without extra installations and setups. You can have your customs and remote uploaded scenery packs in hundred servers/local folders, etc, as always, me too. If this is GPL, the author permits and nobody in the world want to have at least the buildings and 3d objects in TerraSync, let it to me, more work for me, but I think a little bilateral cooperation is a good option.
