Always that knee jerk bomb stories. After AF447 and QZ8501, where clearly has been proven that some Scarebus pilots have no clue what to do when the plane forces them to fly themselves, i can make up a very plausible story out of the same data you use, Jwocky.

At fl 370 the plane forces the pilots to fly themselves. They have no clue how to, because it is their first time. So they make wild movements, not only making a turn of 90 degrees, but probably also with a roll of 90 degrees. At this mishandling of the air frame the plane finally disintegrates at fl 100. This is more plausible, because the bomb story should have disintegrated them at fl 370.

Anyway, we all know nothing until a years time when the report comes out. Sadly no one will be there to read it, except me, so the bomb propaganda will stay hanging in the public's minds.

Just my observation but seems like back then most incidents occur on takeoff or landings, but these days they are swinging to the cruise segment. Anyone has any statistics on that? I remember seeing a graphic on this that dates to the 1950s or so, but the last few ones are all happened during cruise phase

Apparently there was a bomb threat made against Egyptian at the exact same aircraft. I don't have the source other than from Patrick Smith's site (AskThePilot.com), which I regularly go have a look..

If true, this is likely a sabotage, and egyptian security is full of holes. (They had 3 security personel on board that Airbus!)
