Appalachian (or Mingo County) Regional Airport, Williamson, WV

*************
REPOSITORY
*************

Hi All, we will be arriving to the Appalachian regional KEBD airport for the first half of the USA tour 42nd. But....

Such airport does not exist in FG! (just yet: Terrasync current view)
Image

A scenery pack will be released that include some scenery updates, among these
A correct KEBD airport layout as seen in the satt views. This airport has been carved into the mountain. Well. really, it has been built on the plateau left by an old mine, so the perspective obtained by terragear is very credible too  :ugeek:

In the images below you can see the small tarmac that we will be attempting to land on....

Had been created. And after installation of the scenery pack, the correct airport can/will be found in the correct location.

Expect further information on this.

Best,

Yay!
Too bad it is likely too late for WS 3.0 (next terrasync gen).
I think it is being worked on.

personally I think it will be fine.
I still find concerning that updating the world scenery takes 2+ years. It would be great to achieve a consistent way to get layouts terrasynced(?) in maybe a week's worth.
OTOH, we still have the ability to share scenery packages that can distribute corrected/updated layouts on the fly.

Hi All

Just as planned, the only static object that can be seen in the airport premises is the fence.
I had modelled this fence following Satt views, and it is now included in the scenery package :D

I assume, given that everything identifiable in the information and views on this airport is present here, we can declare Appalachian RGNL a fully modelled airport?

@KL-666, I know it does not have a building, but it looks as close as RL as I can imagine it. What do you think about adding it to the map?

So this is how it goes for landing in KEBD?

In the heartless heartland of the US Appalachian mountains, in the border of West Virginia and Kentucky, if the pilot succeeds avoiding the sinuous terrain of the Appalachian, and is happily coming on a clear final... he better clear that fence before the touchdown! :D

*Bravo Whisky Niner, cleared to land 06, winds 50 at 2*
*cleared to sh**:!:*
*Uh, well, Bravo Whisky Niner, can't you wait for that till you get on the ground?*
*Bravo Whiskey Niner, uh, negative, I have lost my gear on the fence and am now perched comfortably on the nearest tree.*
