This is the thread to discuss everything related to the Fall 2017 edition of the Festival of FlightGear.

The Festival of FlightGear is a biannual "fly-in" event taking place in Spring and Fall:
the Spring edition is held in March in a region outside Europe;
the Fall edition is held in Europe and coincides with the FSWeekend "real world event" at Lelystad.

This first post will be the only one containing up-to-date information about the Festival and will be updated to provide you with links to the latest airport charts/ground networks/Route Manager files/helpful resources for the Fall 2017 edition only.
---
Festival repository
I'm going to create a repository to store OpenRadar files/ground networks/Route Manager files just after the Spring 2017 edition ends; the link will be posted here.
---
Flight/ATC planning:
Pilots and controllers are invited to register their flight plans/sessions at Lenny's website.
---

Is it possible that I ATC in Ajaccio - Napoléon Bonaparte? I know it's not really Italy (France) and Sardegna is also nice but "la Corse" is just a whole different animal:

So maybe we can include it as a supplement island? ;)

a few festivals have already have "sattelite" services.

Example, that I clearly remember: In the "Brazil Argentina" festival, someone did open Montevideo's Tower in Uruguay, and became a good satellite position in the surroundings of Buenos Aires.

*Hoping that I'll be able to ATC, otherwise it's still mine (self-taken picture).

As previously announced:

elgaton wrote:Since it is pretty much clear now that the Fall festival will be held in Italy (and because I probably won't have much time during the next two weeks, as I'll mostly be away on two work trips):

I will be controlling my home base, LIPX.

The airfield was built during the First World War to serve as a base for military operations. Civilian service was started in the early 1910s (mainly with charter/touristic flights); however, it did not see much development until the 1970s, when a first passenger terminal was built. The airport was then expanded in 1990; a second terminal was opened in 2006 to cope with the growing traffic.

Today. the airport handles about 17000 flights (mainly charter flights and summer routes) and one and a half million passengers per year. Its location (just south of the Alps) makes it an ideal starting point for flights to Northern European destinations (e.g. EDDF or LKPR, which are regularly covered by ATC services). The field is suitable for all aircraft types (general aviation, commercial aviation and military flights).

The field is also a bit challenging: as any regular flyer there will probably know, approaches and departures from/to the North require a couple of tight turns and/or a steep ascent/descent rate . Moreover, it can get really foggy in the Fall/Winter, to the point that the airport was equipped with a fog dispersal device, and 150/100 m RVRs aren't unheard of.

As most of you will probably know, I've been working (on and off) on some custom scenery, which you can find here (choose the "Releases" link to get the prebuilt version, or get the latest test build from here (198 MB!)). I will be adding most (if not all) X-Plane buildings and AI info over the next two/three weekends, release a new version on GitHub and on the Scenery Gateway, then start adding objects/ground signs and modeling the 3D buildings (Catalanoic has already offered his help; furthermore, a regular flyer has sent me a preliminary version of the hangar).

That's one of my favorite places to fly. Some of the best scenery in FG. You will have at least one visitor.
