A quick question. Would that lifejacket safe you from hypothermia were you to fall in cold Vancouver bay?

No. However during strong winds we are tethered in by our lifejackets. Also if you do fall in you should be picked up within 5 mins. Its in the rules that if you see any sailor or boat in danger (including in the water) you must stop and help. We had to pick up someone in the water from another boat and he was out in less than 5 mins.
