Either I'm not very vigilant, or there's no topic on how to set up terraGIT.
Could someone link me to one, or provide instructions?
And what are the advantages/disadvantages vs. terrasync?

Advantages over terrasync:
1. You get scenery downloaded directly to your computer
2. It does not use resources while you are flying
3. You use git capabilities and submodules strategy to keep up with updates of the parts of the world you are interested
4. You can install and deinstall world by 1x1 tiles (or by latitudes, or by longitudes, or by regions when these are available)
5. Several airports are updated on terraGIT (but not on terrasync) [Airport Layouts, or Models]
6. TerraGIT gets new groundnets, and Jetways, or other configuration files that cant' be updated in terrasync
7. You can send new scenery patches as pull requests, modifying any portion of scenery you choose.
8. FG runs and loads faster (because of 1 and 2)
9. You never get "failure to download" scenery or surprise fetching problems while flying. You have any scenery you already installed
10. it can carry OSM2City scenery packages
Disadvantages over terrasync
1. It is very large. If you download the whole world, you need available about 250GB of hard drive
(you can still just get those tiles you are interested in)
2. You need some knowledge of GIT and have access to git software to use it.
3. Models added to terrasync come to terraGIT with up to several weeks of delay (new models and new locations)
That's about what comes to mind, for now.

Sorry for the triple post
It says it's downloading, but when I check the assigned Terrain folder, it says 0 bytes.
???

a given tile will only show the files when that tile is completely downloaded.
There's no "partial download" in a git system.
Until your data does not test OK with the SHA1Sum, you dont get "parts" of it.
A tile is 1x1 degrees, and you may have gotten some of those.
By the way, how are you installing USA?
