Geneve International Airport - Cointrin (LSGG)

Postby IAHM-COL » Sun Oct 04, 2015 8:26 pm

Hi ALL!

Authors: IH-COL and Firefly

https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-SCENERY/LSGG-fg-CustomScenery

As the Flightgear Fall Festival 2015 comes closer... (we 're barely 1 month away!), and given that the Festival is such amazing opportunity for the Flightgear community to come together, and given also that is such a great platform to coordinate development scenery in less developed areas in the world -- hopefully with a greater number of contributors as we grow in popularity, and we foster a cooperative development, I have decided to not only serve as ATC on the Geneve Airport, but also to prepare a fully fledged Airport Scenery for the Cointrin Airport.

It has been an important amount of work, but I am almost certain now, given the current status, that this airport development will be available both in Terrasync, and via an FGMEMBERS' development repository at least 15 days before the event takes places. (such has been the goal)

I am looking forward to the community to bring a nice flow of traffic, and I pledge and request everyone not only to come and participate, but also to run the voice, and communicate your flightgear pals that this event is about to occur (once again)!!

Following, I will be sharing some pictures of the current progress, and soon, I will be releasing the airport for all of us to enjoy! :P

If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it?

While the Airport layout is actually accurate, and it contains Airport 850 data, the airport does not contain significant 3d development.

Now, the airport is almost fully modelled, and it properly adapted for 24hour operations.

Consider adding the jetways found in the jetway editor?
They are much cooler.
I'd do it, but just like to ask you what you think.
Samedan is in excellent shape, as is Innsbruck.
Forgive me if those ARE the editor ones :)

The development at Geneva looks great. Can't wait to see it in Terrasync. Also Zurich has improved a lot. All great for Switzerland. But Austria, also part of the event, lags behind with only one airport at Innsbruck. It would be nice if someone did at least the capital of Vienna there.

Kind regards, Vincent
