Its not all bad news. South African Airlink still operates a healthy Fleet of Avros.

Actually, the Jumbolino is kind of making a little comeback as VIP plane. Som,e guys came to the idea to refurbish some old one and they became so popular for certain types of business flyers, they really think, if they run out of old ones, to build some new ones.
The thing is low buying price, the cabin size of a small airliner combined with the ability to use short runways and the ability to stand around stupid even on relatively soft surfaces without sinking in (actually, the wheel surface on the ground in square inches/lbs is in the range of a 777 which is called "Bigfoot" sometimes for a reason. And since owners of VIP planes are not happy anymore to fly for example from New York to Frankfurt in their own plane but rather want to land in smaller places like for example Forchheim, the Jumbolino got about 40 outstanding orders for business jet conversions.

Yeah, you can get good ones for under 8 million dollars. Even with full business and additional tank, under 15 million. But it seems, they run out of planes to refurbish. BAE is asked by several outfitters whether they can maybe do something about that. Maybe a Jumbolino with better engines? Or bigger tanks? That would be awesome.
