JAFVA website available

JAFVA website Available

Hi All,
After realizing that something I wanted to improve from JAFVA was the ability of our members, pilots, and community to be able to see the activity, and thus be encouraged to continue filing flights for the virtual airline, I decided a few months ago to build a website that facilitates the information on our flights and pilots to be accesible to the community.

the website can be found, logically at

http://www.jafva.com

Image

I hope you guys find the website informative and easy of use. A few highlights are:

1. A ranked pilot roster complete with all our pilots' information
http://www.jafva.com/pilots/

2. A paginated list of the information of all the flights completed by our pilots, sorted from latest
http://www.jafva.com/flight/

3. A navigable and detailed page for every flight
example
http://www.jafva.com/flight/1054/

Note that for flights filed with the new "blackbox" protocol, extended information such as an accurate flight map, flight profiles, and the availabitliy of a GeoJSON with the flight information is available!
example
http://www.jafva.com/flight/1106/

4. A searchable and detailed page for every of our pilots
example
http://www.jafva.com/pilot/469/

5. A searchable and detailed page for every Country, with information of that Country's Pilots' and Flights
example
http://www.jafva.com/country/302681/

6. A searchable and detailed pages for every airport of the world, with information for JAFVA arrivals and departures
example
http://www.jafva.com/airport/3631/

7. An updated form to register as a new JAFVA pilot
http://www.jafva.com/new_pilot/

8. A legacy form to file PIREPS in a manner comparable to what we used to do
http://www.jafva.com/new_flight_legacy/

9. A new and recommended form to file PIREPS using the newest Blackbox protocol (with instructions)
http://www.jafva.com/new_flight/

Note: for flight PIREPS filed with the blackbox protocol, our AI will automatically validate your flights, and if valid, it will update your times, rank and location, and will create a more detailed flight page, with GeoJSON information available

Enjoy

Best,

If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it?

The functionality seems pretty impressive, although the design might need a little finetune, in case this is something that's important for you.

Anyway, didn't know I was a registered pilot with JAFVA (lol, long time ago :D ), if you could please remove me from your system, thanks!

Thanks D-ECHO
specific comments on design are welcomed

Long time ago you filled the new pilot form. I don't recall you ever completed not even one flight. and that's what my database shows me

I can try clearing your pilot ID off the database and see how that goes. There's is a lot of CASCADE effect protections that I built in, so I hope I don't run into trouble removing your entry (but since you've got no flights, It should be doable)

It worked. Again, it was facilitated since you had no flights attached to your nickname

Very nice work :)

Have you experienced regular crashes with blackbox? I was using it for a while, but it became unusable unfortunately.

Hi 123apple

I had not experience any crash with blackbox. It literally works as a blackbox, recording flight information on the go, using Flightgears' generic protocol, which in my hands is very stable.

I don't know if there is any other kind of "blackbox" out there, but this one, I created from scratch, and I don't recall having offered it before today publicly.

I see - sorry then!

The blackbox that I was thinking of was a JAVA application developed several years ago - so if this is different, then should work fine :)

Might give this another flight or two...
