Unexisting airports or default single-runway layouts

Hi All

As you know, the airports layout made with WED and distributed via the X-Plane Gateway is a community driven effort.

A number of airports existing in Real World, don't even exist in the database.
A much larger number of airports exist as the basic layout of a runway with one parallel taxiway that many of us had grown to hate.

In any case, there is not a committee of Airport layout improvement. This is a hard work that is done in a contributor's interest basis.

In any case, it would be nice to have a thread that serves as a database of these location that need either an 850.apt.dat creation, or improvement out of the dreary single runway.
(to be true to the case, maybe we are talking here about the great majority of airports in the world)

Feel free to share your wishes. Post an image of the view on FG/Xplane and an image of how the real place look like.

Maybe we count with some luck, and some WED artist happens to express interest in some of these

Thanks mate for generating those airports...otherwise Caracas would not be nice at all...

By the way, I also need to add waypoints from the charts to Doha Intl and Hamad... MEDOD is a major STAR for them, and it does not exist. Also, the IAFS, IFS etc are midsing.

Checked the gateway first... Doha Hamad is done. Have to see how nice it looks in WED!

Hmmm... not bad, but it could use improvement.

i did this apt some time ago, and sent it to robin. now i do know it's far from finished, but hey, better than nothing :D

folder and re-start X-Plane.

Took me ten minutes. I've finished Doha INTL, and Hamad is sufficiently developed. Bandrinake next.
The .dats will be in my SVMI data/airports/ fodlder and the two (Hamad and Doha) are in the gateway. Doha needs approval obviously.
Well, lets go!
Any other ideas?
Hmm.... not sure which I'd like to do after Colombo. Maybe Newtownards (EGAD)?

well... if you want an idea, look at the paraguayan capital, SGAS

In the gateway it still exist as your typical default rwy layout. And in terrasync is even fully covered in Grass.
I call it, SGRASS.

I've thrown together Colombo, and it's submitted and pushed.
Right, time for a break. I think lunch is nearly ready... maybe should program a hold on the A330, since I may be delayed at lunch and I'm over Jordan on the way to Istanbul from Doha. Maybe I will have time for a quick flight to Bucharest or similar from Istanbul this afternoon.

Beijhing, one of the world's busiest airports, is a parallel taxiway IIRC. I did a JAFVA flight from India.



Now that I think about it, wasn't there an airport in Delhi that didn't even exist? VIDP perhaps?
