he didnt say empty. He says the less amount of fuel as required: As in, do not attempt a take off on full belly.

I think he implied that you calculate the fuel required with relative accuracy, then just add a 10% excess for the needs and go with it. (as oppose to refuel completely and attempt going out heavy)
Keep in mind those birds on full belly will give you 6000+ nm range, but from KPIR to KPDX you only looking for 1000+
Noting that is what he reffered as "empty" -- in constrast to a full load.

BTW... Had you tried landing and taking off the A332 from KPIR? The A330 family is very kind on that respect: but in any case is not as large as the B748.

And considering we are not ASL, but 2000 ft above, the runways at 7000 ft happen to be short of your needs to lift with MTOW.

We got a major issue with KPIR. Both runways on terasync is unusable. I was going to do some testing with the 747-8 but the 25/07 is completely underground and 31/13 has killer grass going through it.

HI everyone. Pierre's KPIR in terrasync is gone to S**T. There is one runway fully buried in terrain and the other one quite partly. Really, it looks like a volcano came and cover the whole thing up.

One solution to the problem is that I build an optional scenery package to have that airport used.

The other solution to the problem is quite my favorite. I will say, we change our mid-stop for a bit detour, and honor all of this crap by going to KRAP[*] (Rapid City, SD); instead of KPIR (Pierre, SD). The airport is some 120 miles west of KPIR, but, although higher than KPIR, it features a longer runway (14/32; 8700ft). Also, the terrain is nice, and the airport layout features much more confortable tarmacs for our 1 h wait.



So, instead of sinking with the bulls**T in Pierre, I guess the tour is just going to divert to KRAP

BTW, although a more comfortable runway -- those in the long birds might want to look at the landing and taking off there. But now with 2000 ft more length to spare (in comparison to KPIR), I think you are set golden

Yeh, ALMOST empty ... sometimes reading helps- With 10% fuel, you have still roughly 1500nm range.

If you are using terrasync to download terrain, make sure to prevent the stop of the routine due to errors as KL-666 indicates here
