The Fying Caravels
Hi everyone!
The USA Tour recently arrived to Omaha, Nebraska flying Long Range Propellers, and now it is preparing to fly destination the Great Lake of Michigan.
To make things a bit more spicy, and interesting, this time we will be operating Flying Boats, and we are preparing to both take off and land in water.
Some of these aircrafts are literally flying boats: such as the KM, or the BV138MS. Others are amphibians, capable to operate either on water as on solid runways.
Others, nonetheless have been land aircrafts which were adapted into water operations, such as some float adaptations of the C172p. A more curious class are
the Jet engines boat aircrafts.
Aircrafts
Without further restrictions, if your aircraft is capable of water landing in the Lake of Michigan, near the General Mitchell Intl. Airport: It qualifies.
Let us know your preference, so we can be appropriately prepared to see your model, and snap some real cool set of USA-Tour styled photoframes.
The GCMAP
Route: GPX | KML
We will be flying towards the Great Lake Michigan following low altitude airways V6 and V216. VOR2 on Des Moines, Iowa City and Janesvilles will mainly guide our route. The GPX file provided can be used to complete the route manager in FGFS.
Speed will remain unrestricted, in case your aircraft is slower, or faster than others, feel free to adjust your speed to a convenient rate for your aircraft. The FGMEMBERS mpserver covers the whole range from departing to arriving airports, so no pilot will become lonely due to speed issues. You may be assigned a recommended speed in order to attempt maintaining a compact pack.

Mooring
Initially, I had the idea of departing from Carter Lake in Omaha, that is conveniently located in the nearby of the Eppley Field. Unfortunately, this Lake is not simulated in FGFS. So we will be mooring, and taking off from the Missouri river, adjacent to the Eppley Field. Later, I will provide starting locations for the launching of confirmed pilots.
Landing will be simple. We will approach Milwaukee following the Lake shore, and we will water land in the Milwaukee Bay, adjacent to the General Mitchell Intl. Airport. We will water land parallel to the shore, facing either South or North, depending on the prevalent winds.
