Well, I can judge Sanders only by what he says, what he voted for in the past and by what he is according to his own self-labeling. He labels himself as a socialist, so why shouldn't I believe him? By all means, he openly propagated redistribution, socialized medicine and even disowning in some cases in the past. So that is consistent with what he says, he is.

My advice: do not under ANY circumstances vote for socialism. Venezuela is bad enough. Don't want USA to become like it.

People should really research what Bernie has said about himself before laying the name of 'socialist' on him By all intents he's more of a Europe type of Social Democrat, which our US history has had peppered through it's history with ones of various stripes, FDR being the most memorable.

And please don't be using the metrics of a South American strongman's socialist politics to measure what you think Bernie will end up doing. He's one of the few who actually want to do the will of his constituents, and that is remarkably refreshing considering the circus clown-car parade we've had for election hopefuls for the past 36 years.
