Flightgear's USA Tour 21st: USA TOUR reaches Adulthood

Last arrival to Las Vegas received really awesome participation, and was very entertaining. I can't strengthen enough how much I am looking forward for our next event. I am looking forward to meet you (again, if applies) in the air.

This time USA Tour is heading to the Caribbean USA Territory of Puerto Rico, and we will be landing in the fantastically modeled Luis Mu~oz Marin Airport (TJSJ). It does not happen everyday that USA Tour departs and arrives a modelled airport, but now it is happening in 2 consecutives of the Series: PANC - KLAS, and now KLAS-TJSJ.

This time we will be flying a Jet Airliner event, as expected for the lenght of cruise to be at 2800 nm, but we will do it in the mode of connecting flight, with a forced stop at Mobile, Alabama, so basically any airliner can do it (or almost); This includes Regional Jets like the CRJ and the MRJ, as an example. The exception here is that since we have had Boeing and Airbus specific events, this event will exclude any of those families to be participant planes.

The stop at mobile splits this event in EXACT two halves. A pilot can fly either half or both, depending on his/her schedule. We will be departing KLAS a little earlier, at 1600UTC, and fly towards mobile, with an expected cruising time of 3 hours and 15 min. Thus I expect us to be able to have reach Mobile at 19:30 UTC, with comfort. Pilots will taxi to gate and park. Pictures of connection arrival may be taken :P. We will make a 30 minutes stop, to accomodate any potential delay from KLAS, and depart Mobile on the mark at 2000UTC. We should be arriving at TJSJ around 2330Z, and I expect we have succesfully finished the event at 2400 UTC. So summarizing this, we will have two halves of 3:30 min each, with an estimated total event duration of 8 hours.

Once again, I repeat, A pilot can fly either or both these routes, depending on his availability and interest. We will be departing KLAS at 16:00UTC and departing KMOB at 20:00UTC.

Aircrafts

CONFIRMED PLANES LIST HERE

We have had an event featuring Boeing 7x7 series

USA Tour KBHM -> KBOI

And an event featuring Airbus 3xx Series

USA Tour PANC -> KLAS

This time, participant pilots may choose Any jet airliner that is neither of B7x7 nor A3xx, and that can carry at least 70 passengers quota, and has a range of at least 1500nm. Options are many. Regional Airliners, full range airliners, Small and Large.

I understand many love the B777 or Mark's B707, or the A3xx's but its time for the USA tour to give a chance to the underdogs :) [and perhaps to any developer to polish any of these *hint hint*] I also understand they may be not so well modelled, so fit your best shoes, is what I say

---But I only fly the *** type of plane!!
It's O.K. If you want to JUST ACCOMPANY the tour, come with your favorite. There are not difference in the "air" benefits of any plane, although some may argue that the B727's have better passenger service and better food ;) The only difference is that you will be not counted as a participant, but as a companion instead.

Think of this like being invited to a costume party. You can still go with your day2day attire. And it's still lots of fun.

Note: The list may be incomplete!

Important To avoid yellow gliders, either post below the plane of choice you'll fly or notify via PM to IHCOl. Then Download all confirmed planes :D

Our recent arrival to the largest city of Alaska took us to the northernmost destination of the Tour: Anchorage. After our escapade to far pacific territory of Guam and Alaska, the Tour now returns to the continental USA, and lands in Sin-City LAS VEGAS. Time to play! :)
I mean, really guys, time to play! I hope I will see you using your fanciest Airbus, ready to depart PANC, for really awesome 5 hours of group flying with direction to the vibrant city of Nevada.

A few month ago, the USA tour featured planes manufactured by the American Giant Boeing, and its very succesful 7x7 airliner series, in the trip via Boise:

USA Tour KBHM -> KBOI

Now it is the opportunity for the European Airlines manufacturing House (Airbus) eventl; We will feature the Airbus 3xx very succesful series.
Therefore, to participate, simply choose any of these airliners, and come to PANC for some group flying fun!

Some of you may think....

Mmmm.... USA Tour seems nice, but the length of each route is way to much :(

Well, let me tell you, those lengths were the result of randomization of all destinations, and last 2 events were among the longest of the whole Tour.
See a chart of length distributions to better follow this point. On this chart, I colored any trip already completed that is 2000 nm or longer.
Notice that PANC->KLAS is one out of only 2 flights that are longer than 2000 nm but shorter than 2500nm

I hope this helps to lift the mood of some potential pilots to join us ...

Flightgear's USA Tour 19th: PORGE AND BESSS, or the Fighters in the Pacific

The USA tour has arrived a really far away territory, Guam; and done so with a transpolar great circle route of 15 hours.

'Twas fun!.

But with the USA Tour model of departing the arrived airport, it places a problem: If we got there, we have to get away of; hopefully somewhere closer to continental USA.

LV-EPM asked me on flight toward PGUM? so it's next destination the closest possible?

The answer was: Not really. The USA tour destination list was randomized, and thus, there is not a useful method to predict, where we gonna fly next.

The closes American territory in the list is The Northern Mariana Islands. As a matter of fact, These are frankly close.

But the next destination, is, unpredictably, Alaska's major city: Anchorage.

We will depart from the Military base Andersen Air Force Base (AFB), flying any military fighter capable of Ma 1.4, with a Ferry Range of 2500.
Make sure to verify that FGUK group may have really well developed aircrafts of this type.

But oh!!! WAIT!
How we will fly 4000 nm with a plane capable of doing just half?!

Simple! Stop in the mid-way.

SURE! the midway is Mid-PACIFIC!! :?

So: Here is the deal.

During the whole duration of this event we will place a Nimitz carrier in this coordinate:

N45°42.08' E162°54.94'

Image

That point is the triple intersect of the limits for Anchorage Oceanic (PAZA), Oakland Oceanic (KZAK), and Fukuoka-Tokyo (RJJJ) Control Areas (FIRs). It is also, very close to the midway of a great circle route connecting Guam and Anchorage.

Image

BESSS

The first segment of this flight will commence at 15Z, in PGUA. We will follow the route posted below, passing for the fix BESSS. At the end of the route, with a cruising of approximate 3 hours we will all land in the carrier.

Skyvector

PGUA KAQTU W21 SANDO NUJCO KATQO HIRCH ANEVY SNAPP BESS ATIGO SEGRO 42E60 N45°42.08' E162°54.94'(NIMITZ)

Image

PORGE

The pilots willing to continue, will then after refuel, and a pause of 5 minutes after every pilot landed (or sunk), take off once again, and we will follow the route posted below, which passes through the fix PORGE. At the end of this route we will land, close to the 3 hour mark, into the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, which located just a few miles northeast of Anchorage.

With that landing, Mission Acomplished!!.

Flightgear's USA Tour 18th: Civilian Long Range Airliners

After almost 9 months since USA Tour arrived to Alburqueque, in a rather unusual event, I have decided to reignite USA Tour, where I had great fun with lots of amazing flying pals. Other responsibilites, plus different FG activities kept me from flying way to long.

But I may admit, that one reason I kept delaying USA Tour is because the length of this trip concerns me. Just after arriving to KABQ, one friend, d-laser argued how it was fun, but it took a bit too long (about 5 hours), and since then I kept thinking: "Oh Gosh, what would they think of 15!"

But:
1) Guam is way too far. Even supersonic planes don't get that range,
2) USA Tour destinations had been ordered by random selection, only once, and every destination is pre-set (only I know where it goes next)
3) It has been great fun, and I am looking forward to continue such fun

I decided that Next April 5th I will be flying for 15 hours, completing the first of the very long routes within the USA tour.

Flightplan

We will be flying following the following flightplan

SKYVECTOR

Code: Select all

KABQ SID RSK J15 TCH V484 TWF J15 BOI J163 BKE V4 PDT J20 SEA J502 YZT J523 YZP TR19 FRIED J804R MDO Q17 HOM V321 AKN V454 DAJOB V321 EHM G10 SPY G469 NYMPH R220 NANAC OTR10 KAGIS A590 YOSHI Y85 MAPDO A339 TAXON A597 REEDE DCT PGUM

Competing Aircraft

I will be flying the Airbus 380, that has an operational range of about 8500 nm. Players are welcome to choose any airplane that fits their companying plan. For the full route make sure that the plane is a long range civilian airliner. There are not many options, but the well developed Boeing 777-200LR, and Boeing 787 Dreamliners both are included.

The Map

Note: In the map above the light contour represents a circle of 5600 nm equidistant from KABQ => the "Direct" estimated distance of the flight; NOT a representation of Daylight!. In Other terms, any location within the light area is closer to KABQ than PGUM

Registration

Registration is not required. The USA TOUR does not act as a competion any more. Pilots are invited to join, and anyone interested may just show up within 10 minutes before the listed departing time SAT APR05TH 1700 UTC, at KABQ; and anyone will be welcome :D

If you wish, feel free to send me a FG private message confirming your attendance or with questions.

Importantly, due to the length of the current event, I recognize that it is extremely difficult to decide to join and accompany.
Please note the major cities along the path-line as indicated in the map below:

Feel free to adjust your Flight plan to start or depart at any of those hubs instead.

For expected times at different cities, please see the table below. There you will also find the local time in different time zones, that may apply to you.

Hope to see you soon, my friends

If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it?
