Okay, looking at the phrase books, this one caught my eye: sijelo moli li lon supa lape mi. o pana e len sin.
What kind of people use that language and in what kind of hotels do they stay if they need that in a phrase book?

Ahaha that phrase book is a joke - you'd never use most of those phrases (hopefully). It's based off the Zompist phrasebook. I remember laughing particularly hard at that one.

There's only 500-1000 or so of us that speak it, and usually just for fun. I've never personally met another jan pi toki pona, but hopefully one day I will.

Gosh, I remember the days, LARPers learned high elvish ... only that is long ago for me and I can't bring together anything in it anymore. And of course, I remember all those Klingons on long gone conventions yelling at people in perfect Klingon, then smashing their heads against each other, drinking too much bloowdwine and ending up being carted away by ambulances ... there must be by now more of those artificial languages out there than natural ones and some are actually connected to equally invented cultural backgrounds. It's kind of funny.
