Hi, Great work with OSM guys.
By the way, quick question, when downloading an area with OSM Buildings for use in FG. Is there a directory in the root which contains texture files for those buildings? So, if it is there I bet we can give a better look by modifying the textures
By the way, the location of some buildings in the screenshots showed buildings in the grass texture area.
Is it going to be fixed when the landclass by SH-M is pushed in?

Not such quick of a question. Answer is, no. OSM buildings are not part of official flightgear, and they can't be submitted to, per example, terrasync. So. No texture is in the root directory.
Some users install them locally on whatever path on their root or outside they want, but clearly you can't modify those remotely.
Contrastingly, when I designed terraGIT, I decided that these textures could have a "root" location --- So not every time I insert new OSM2City buildings, I need to re-iterate the textures.
Here in Singapore, this was a proof of concept and it worked great.
Now, onto modifying.
If you modify the "Root" textures, you will be altering multiple cities in the same shock. That's undesirable.
But if you create textures specific, to, per example, Singapore alone, we can definitely install them to work that way via terraGIT
So we can have it both ways:
1) a root texture direction for any OSM2City building, anywhere in the world on terraGIT
2) possiblity to have regional OSM2City textures, that only affect a region locally
and we can transmit those code changes to any user enjoying the flexibility of terraGIT
So, if it is there I bet we can give a better look by modifying the textures
Do you mean -- I can give.. ?
Are you volunteering to make a Singapore specific texture?
That'll be great. I suggest you obtain these textures to begin with, and modify them as you want/need

No.
The landmass class looks as "grass". So landmass buildings sit on grass like terrain, which indicate a suburban or remote location not heavily urbanized: Like this
You could expand the Urban, SubUrban, or Town landclasses to obtain the effect of buildings in a city, instead. Like some SHM images.
SHM landclass work already paid big-deal when you see around Changi Airbase:
terrasync
terraGIT
But the landmass -- the landclass that we had not been able to get to work would fix some buildings that are actually in the ocean.

Re: Changi - Singapore by Merlion [And beyond]
Yep, you got me right. But I don't exactly know how to point a texture to a specific building in OSM2CITY.
Sorry for the non-question, I didn't hope for such a big answer. Thanks
So I know SM did a great work on landclass. But if n the grass those buildings look pretty plain. As I read the OSM2City wiki, there is a future plan to develop small area around the buildings "gardens". That's why I asked if it is going to be changed.
As you can see the OSM buildings in the Generator pic of Changi are quite simple. So I was thinking of modifying buildings in OSM Project and then pointing a texture to that building. So, ultimately OSM gets better Singapore buildings and we get a great Singapore.
And as you said "we can transmit those codes to users enjoying the flexibility of terraGit."
Do you mean the we can't push the OSM Textures into terraGit directly like apt.dat, etc.

@SM,
the new landmass landclass worked
Compiling terrain now

Not that easy.
If you modify the textures, I install this from you and you can test.

It's possible. Do you want to jump at QGIS work, I'll be happy you too.

Not as easy. 1) OSM2City is python software.
2) you could know how to modify python, but this python script does not contain a license, which means, we can't assume it to be GPL and thus, I dont really know if we can modify it legally
The textures itself? yeah! we can modify those

We did already.

Re: Changi - Singapore by Merlion [And beyond]
Regarding QGIS, how can I pinpoint the location of the OSM Buildings, so that I am able to draw grass area or a lake on the backyard of a house.
I got the textures, but how am I going to point texture to a specific building. In one of the pics you posted containing terraGit scenery for Changi Airbase, you can see some simple buildings.
So, is it possible get the outline of the building and it's location so that I can modify landclass for the 'gardens'. And after that how will I find the texture for that building. If we can assign a specific texture for a single building, we can probably give it a great amount of detail!
And OSM, I thought it was easy to login into OSM and create the buildings there, so we can get it here!

Re: Changi - Singapore by Merlion [And beyond]
By the way, I wanted to test Singapore. I was thinking if I can do it by just downloading it. And also for downloading is it in Terragit tile e100n00?
If not can you give me the link. Or can I use GitHub desktop, not git-scm for this?

I am not a windows user. But if you follow the commands I provide in the git bash you should get it
git bash dowload for windows: https://git-scm.com/download/win
git bash dowload for windows: https://git-scm.com/download/win
Code: Select all
git clone https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-TERRAGIT/terraGIT.git
cd terraGIT
install/Singapore
