I suspect he means that scenmodels is less secure than FGADDON.
If you had made a plane that had placards all over it 'join FGMEMBERS', and pushed it to FGADDON, by the next day it would be gone.
But scenmodels is not so well scrutinized, and so, well, Geneve has been there for months. As it should be.

So, there could well be a nasal virus placed into a scenery .xml, and pushed to TerraSync. It would be there till it was discovered.

Not saying there is a virus in TerraSync. In fact, I'll bet you there isn't. But in theory, it is possible for one to be put in, and with 'author unknown', nobody knows who it is.

If they'd take your advice about the git based terrasync alternative which you proposed to Torsten, there would be none of this situation.

Lego is right I think. The paragraph about LSGG does not mention Nasal, it talks about running FG to take "a close look at all the Geneva airport buildings", i.e. he's looking at the buildings while running FG and does not like them. In a different paragraph, which does not mention LSGG, he talks about Nasal scripts downloaded via Terrasync. It reads to me as two separate topics.

Just checked LSGG again, and there is completely nothing wrong with it.

1) Good effort to have proportional buildings, gates, etc.. at the correct location.
2) Good effort to get the buildings forms right

Go and look around other airports. They just plant a random office building with some gates attached. Often completely wrong placed too, like in the middle of a ramp.

The only minor minus points i can see here are:

1) Not great textures
2) not real signs and logo's

I think the critic has some other motives to pick on this airport and lie that everything is wrong about it. It is actually one of the better airport layouts.

Kind regards, Vincent

I have not seen this to be a problem. I dont' recall any unsafe software or code been leaked into Terrasync. And, I call literally BS on this.
No one but Martin used to be able to push into terrasync. The only way to submit stuff there, AFAICT, was via the scenery database webpage, which ONLY accepted ac files, xml files, png textures, and the thumbnails.
Xml files could have embedded nasal for animations, but yet 1) the number of nasal scenery models in very _VERY_ small, and 2) NASAL is made by FG for FG and as far as I know is inherently safe.
(claim being that NASAL is not safe, and the solution is way outside of scenery creators to fix this ASAP if this being true)

All Scenery contributions are curated manually by a real person (Vicmar), and he is very judicious in revising things for real. So that scenemodels had been inherently unsafe, is a shameless lie.

If you had made a plane that had placards all over it 'join FGMEMBERS', and pushed it to FGADDON, by the next day it would be gone.

Are you kidding me? I never have pushed anything at all to FGADDon, and I protect myself very well of the intention of doing so.
OTOH, liveries are not even supposed to be pushed to FGADDon, by policy. So, why would I make a FGMEMBERS livery to ship to FGADDon? It makes no sense.
(Speaking of, maybe a FGMEMBERS livery for the FGMEMBERS' 787-9 sounds a cool stuff, maybe I engage doing it)

But scenmodels is not so well scrutinized, and so, well, Geneve has been there for months. As it should be.

Scenemodels is very well scrutinized. MUCH MORE so, than FGADDon. Every contribution to scenery is evaluated by one person. Many contributors, and a growing number, contribute to FGADDon, without additional revision. Are you out of your mind today, lego?
Besides, Scenemodels had never had a policiy against placcards. There are several FGUK themed buildings on terrasync as well. Other USA Tour buildings, Firefly buildings, and JWocky building in Homey.
Its just a normal part of the creativity, and of making FG world special, and different.
I wish more sutff like this could be found- think of Merlion, Buildings, other VAs, etc.

As a matter of fact, even Geneve has FGAddon buildings!!

So, there could well be a nasal virus placed into a scenery .xml, and pushed to TerraSync. It would be there till it was discovered.

NAsal Virus!!
That is certainly a claim. NASAL should be made safe, and it has nothing to do with aircrafts or models. It has to do with the nasal source code itself, and that's where such fear should be blocked and targeted.
To my knoweldge today, there is not a NASAL virus! If there is, I want as much information (real information not fear pondering ) as possible, to protect myself.

Haha. You think?
My advise has always been. Make it distributed. Their attitude is always: under no circumstance.
Why? I 've no idea. But for what is worth, Scenemodels is certainly the safest place FG has, for many years.

Maybe I'm being stupid, but I tried to download this airport from Terrasync and got nothing. It hasn't been removed has it?

Which directory should the model placements be in?

Never said there was!

Exactly. That's good.

I'm talking about a theoretical FGMEMBERS plane with a theoretical FGMEMBERS livery.
I know. You wouldn't. And everyone knows you don't. :) Because there is a better place. OTOH, I'd like my plane to go to the download page.

That is certainly a claim. NASAL should be made safe, and it has nothing to do with aircrafts or models. It has to do with the nasal source code itself, and that's where such fear should be blocked and targeted.

I never said there was. I said that there is the possibility to make one. Perhaps.

May it be so.

I dont' know
I am checking the scenenemodels database, and the objecst are still there, locations correctly specified
http://scenemodels.flightgear.org/app.p ... id=3402163
(Recommendation: click on "show object on map" there to see a good display of the layout, and have an easy access to all object there)

Maybe you are looking at the wrong revision, G_SHOZ?

Isn't terrasync no longer in the google place? I am suspecting this is a revision previous the upload.

I was looking at Terrasync, see the URLs I posted.

I appear to have the new taxiways drawn from WED that include the circular islands. But no objects apart from a couple of cars and vans in a car park at the north-eastern end of the terminal area. My local Terrasync appears to match the Terrasync servers:

I thought the models would be referenced in .stg files in here:

http://terrascenery.googlecode.com/svn/ ... 0/e006n46/

EDIT: Where is my Terrasync supposed to be pointing?

EDIT2: OK, it's supposed to be http://scenery.flightgear.org:80/svn-server and it's not. Stand by ...

I have no idea.
This is how an stg in that same folder looks like in the Scenemodels database webpage

http://flightgear.sourceforge.net/scene ... 056136.stg

If what you are seeing is correct, then I'd assume they deleted the airport.
What you describe is what was there before the team built it:

viewtopic.php?f=26&t=98#p1085

Later, I'll verify by deleting my terrasync folder content and launching again.
