Pods is multiple for pod. In my own words i would describe a pod as a rounded (streamlined) protective container. Like an egg shell or underwing fuel container. I actually thought you touch pods while hanging them under fighter aircraft. Like in definition 4a at: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pod
