"Size" of the World

Postby FL2070 » Wed Aug 31, 2016 8:26 pm

The total size of FSX:SE (which contains the entire earth of scenery) is around 21 gigabytes.
The size of TerraGIT's entire world is 250GB??

Why is this?

A full copy of terrasync's world without scm information approaches 85GB.

The terragit scenery carry history of several binaries and thus size is about 2ice as large.

The terrasync/terragit scenery is FGs 2.0 featuring a very detail polygon mesh for terrain and a rather complex and detailed CORINE land class set for all of Europe.

It makes beautiful landscape but it is not HD economic.

I could optimize terrgit one step further to approach 180 GB instead of 250. But holding with the hope scenery version 3.0 with LOD will become a reality, which can bring a significant reduction in terrain size
