and I've now built a model using Simon's data (amongst others) and I'm now announcing that I've built what seems to be a reasonable aerodynamics model for the Beagle Pup. The writeup and FDM is available at
http://chateau-logic.com/content/using- ... flightgearIncluded in the model are propeller effects and a linear damage model for the wings, horizontal and vertical tails.
As I've previously said this process is all about finding what produces the better results; once Simon has got his model into shape I plan to hack JSBSim apart so that I can get a matching set of coefficients out and plot both aerodynamics models on the same charts; as this (or flight traces) is the only real way to compare models.
I see this as being quite an important test; I've devoted a fair chunk of time to doing this simply because if it does work it opens up the possibilities that Simon has mentioned, such as coming up with a representative model without having to fudge things.
Just to be clear the only aerodynamic data in my FDM has come out of VSPAero (except for a slight increase in form drag); there has been no tweaking or tuning of any of the tables. If it spins then it is because of the aerodynamics.
