a single long press of the s key will start both turbines...

If however you press it for less than 3 secs and then release, you'll find pressing it again a single time wont restart the engines... you have to press it 2 times.... FG devs strike again.

So just remember to start the turbines it's a long press of the s key every odd number of presses...

kinda like morse code....
_._

Anyway, glad to hear you're at least sat in the cockpit.... do remember to put the throttle collective to zero when starting the engines and rotors

sure.
But where is the collective? I tried page up/ for collective down. Page down for collective up. But the torque remains at zero. ? There is not collective indicator in the hud that I can tell off. So I am not sure what I am doing there with one of the real critical controllers.
Sorry for the dumb question.

Ah I see ..... So you're using a keyboard throttle keys....

I use the X52 throttle quadrant so never tested if anything I'd written had cocked this part up....

Will go test and rectify any issues.....

updated keyboard

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ksljC ... 1T6gUdNuGY

But I'm killing pilots here testing it.... so if you could come up with a sensitivity value that works in the step that works for you in keys 57, 51, 360 and 361 , let me know.

Code: Select all

      <key n="57">
         <name>9</name>
         <desc>Increase throttle or autopilot autothrottle</desc>
         <repeatable type="bool">true</repeatable>
         <binding>
            <command>property-adjust</command>
            <property>/fdm/jsbsim/fcs/thrust-pos-cmd</property>
            <step>0.1</step>
            <min>-1</min>
            <max>1</max>
            <wrap>false</wrap>
         </binding>
         <mod-shift>
            <desc>Look front right</desc>
            <binding>
               <command>property-assign</command>
               <property>/sim/current-view/goal-heading-offset-deg</property>
               <property>/sim/view/config/front-right-direction-deg</property>
            </binding>
         </mod-shift>
      </key>

just updated the keyboard...so redownload

It is possible to fly her, I would advise however using the hover mode to land.... it's not a cheat... there's no cheats, it's just a simple PID controller, the physics of the flight model remains untouched... it's just taking the work load off the pilot.

Also the HUD in emergency and hover mode use the visor augmention functionality so as the information is always in view...

A roundtrip with the Scorpio!

Hey Bomber
I did a bit of training (Ahem, Crashing) and then a roundtrip with the scorpio. A bit sightseeing around Dubai

I want to use a single word:

Outstanding

I can't believe that is a JSBsim model of an helicopter. It is very maneuverable, flyable, can be made to hover, can be made to move forward and backward, has a realistic VTOL.

APPLAUSE.

Thanks very much.

Here are my flight tracks:

My recommendations?

1. There are some errors that can be made silent in FG2020 with these changes:

https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-NONGPL/AH-1/pull/1/files

2. The collective, at least in FlightGear

Tipically in a fixed wing PAGE_UP raises throttle, and PAGE_DWN lowers it
The collective behaves exact opposite: PAGE_UP lowers the collective, etc

You might consider matching that behavior with your keyboard file?

Thanks again!!

Amazed and amused, IH-COL

Such an outstanding FDM model does deserve a 3D animated helicopter.

Oh well!!!
But on its defect, if the props rotate that would already be a gain. Not rotation propellers make it feel unexpected, like the thing not really working.

I'm glad you've had fun, and to think you're only having 2/3 of the fun, as you're unable to autorotate the rotors... when you autorotate from a couple of thousand ft and you just gently touch down, you think.... " I nailed that" ..... as opposed to all the times you watch the ground rushing toward your cockpit window.

With regards the mods for the error messages.... if you modify the instrument file, won't that effect the standard FGUK AH-1 ?

If you turn the turbines off inflight (s key), you have 2 minutes if ultracapacitor flight...that's also fun

If you get to where you want to land, get roughly to a stable position and press the m key... in hover mode you can land on a pin head if you want...good for landing on buildings or ships

If anyone wants to add candyfloss to it by animating the rotors, go for it... it's just where do you stop ?.. and for me it wasn't a priority.
I hope it inspires someone to make a 3d model for it..

It's just a shame that the prevailing attitude of FG is that it's of no value because it can't be sold.

regards

Simon
