And happy July 5th to those in Venezuela... we didn't want to copy evil America, so we signed the day after :)

5 de Julio? de 1811... Gracioso

Que tengas un feliz Dia Nacional, Lego.

By the way, just for an historical comment. We did copy the US somehow. Honestly speaking, the Bolivarian efforts to achieve independence from Spain (from "La Nueva Granada") where strongly fueled by admiration of both the American independence and the French Revolution. Without these two historical events, most likely we would still hail Spain's King.

A second historical note. Bolivar was born in Caracas (not Venezuela, but La nueva Granada), in the District of Venezuela. When he attempted energizing his fellow-Venezuelans to lift in arms against Spain, the reaction was deemfully negative, so he relocated to Cucuta (not Colombia, but La Nueva Granada), where he definitely found support to re-enter Venezuela to fight for. The infamous Merida passage, was on these times, I remember. Not to come vengenceful, but the fact is that the "Venezuelans" were loyalist to the King big time (stinky, from my watch). But re-iterating, Bolivarian revolution is done by imitation and admiration of the brave men in U.S. that signed a paper that declare they were to be independent to a King, before property and life.

In that sense, maybe a 5th was more done in respectful imitation, than anything else? I think.

That's pretty much the truth!
But now, with the present situation, that's what some people would believe.
