Elgaton could you also tell when control should be handed to you from RJAA Narita?

Please use them too, so that we both have the same SIDS / STARS!
Include it in the flightgear atc page notes and also refer pilots to that page.

I'll be using the same set.

Since I'm going to fill in the Tokyo Center position, technically, I'm going to cover Tokyo ACC in the following picture:

Fukuoka and New Chitose would fall outside of the area - I need to check how far they are from the boundary.

What altitude do I hand departures over at?

Looking at the charts,
If possible, please hand the arrivals over a few miles before CHESS, CARDS, SWING, DARTS, SLIDE, TRIKE, or BIWWA, at approx. 10000 or so.

If you agree, I propose the following solution (not just for Narita):
  • between 40 and 60 NM out if there is a departure controller at the airport, or there is no departure controller and the tower one wants to cover approach as well;
  • about 10 NM out if there is only a tower controller NOT willing to cover approach.
(This is not a rule set in stone, I haven't looked at all the charts for the manned airports, so feel free to exercise discretion).

I don't have any specific preferences (let's say between FL100 and FL200, however, if an aircraft climbs faster than that before reaching the handoff point, you can clear it for a higher altitude, as long as separation is maintained).

Ok thank you elgaton.
I'll think about it and give a reply.

I also propose that we (all controllers) host a mumble session before the Festival preferably after May 1 by then all OR Files and sceneries will be done and we could organise everything for the final time and give a small briefing.

I'll be really busy in the following weeks so I wont be here. I'll be back on the first week of May as mentioned earlier.
I'll push the scenery for Narita soon.
See you then bye.

May first for the ATC practice session sounds fair to me

If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it?

Honestly, rethinking this, am I mad for trying to do ATC on a schedule? My schedule on Saturdays can be unpredictable; besides, I'll be doing some final exams in may.

On second thought, maybe I shouldn't do ATC.

Quick heads up for all ATCs: Wolfram Wagner (the author of OpenRadar) has released a new version to address the airport download problems - I would suggest getting them while you can.

Well I am away from my PC. But I have a copy of RJTT anyways, and Oscar is making some lovely ground taxiway charts.
