Yeah. I have been reading a little about polling websites

SurveyMonkey controls only one vote per user and anonimity via email invitations or browser cookies or IP tracking.... aparently

The browser cookies is obviously easy to over-ride. They have free and per-pay service. And I don't think anyone (not even lydiot) is willing to pay for this poll.

So, yes. There is options to run a poll-site external to the forums. But, it comes with caveats to think about.

I see the list of options in Europe is not that long yet. I propose the following additions

  • Turkey
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Neetherlands - Belgium - Luxembourg
  • West Russia (West of the Ural Mountains)

For europe a nice enclosed area far from normal business would be nice. UK + Ireland would be nice. Or Greece with all the islands and 3 developed airports. Maybe someone wants to do Athens before the event :-)

Kind regards, Vincent

Im anxious to see the poll results... and knowing what awaits ahead of us :D

I have not been able to make my mind yet. Several of these places look quite intriguing to me

--- at this point it is not even clear where the poll will be :S ---

The central point is, while JWocky, Skyboat, and I are banned (all and every of us) from Curtis' Forum, the poll there is unadmissible as a solution.

Skyboat was banned?
I thought he resigned.
Out of protest sort of thing.
He was silwntly banned?

+1 -- UK and Ireland is totally top my list, since Carribean is not really fixable in short term.

@All

How about this link that can be shared not only in our forum, but on Curtis', via the devel list, the FG Facebook page (s), via ATC pages etc. So to speak, this link could be widely distributed to collect the interest and moods of the whole community without a forum bias?

@elgaton? @Lydiot? Others? Would this be an amenable alternative?
[If you read my comments below you'll see that in my opinion this alternative is quite not good enough! :| ]

Don't vote quite yet there. This is just a proposal.. (such I haven't even check spelling -- you'll note if you go too critical with this)

Settings: Only one response allowed per device (browser or IP tracked I don 't know) Issue, people with multiple computers can have multiple votes ! (yikes -- I go from having no vote on Curtis' Forum, to being able to access at least 15 independent terminals --without even thinking on accessing TOR quite yet. In my opinion this is more than enough to dissuade such poll as being a real option)
Response Anonimity: On
Changin' of the vote is allowed until vote is over

@Lego
As you know Skyboat resigned to the Curtis' Forum.
As a consequence he can vote there either. (His account there is inactive as well, and out of conscience he is not returning )

Whatever you do, be sure it is public, because i am not going to sign up with yet another obscure selling-my-data website. Especially not the one of that Zuckerberg guy. Jabberwocky is quite the limit :-)

Kind regards, Vincent

That's why I still find making the poll over here the most simple compromise to the situation at hand.

Maybe, if Lydiot is the only one finding this not acceptable, we can just maybe outnumber him?
We don't reach a consensus, but a consensus -1 ?

But to be fair... elgaton seems to be dubious of the course of action as well :cry:
