Hi,
I took a glance at MP server 15, the tracker and noticed, most MP servers in the "official" world are down. Is there a software change or are they now giving up on MP because it cost them so much effort as Hooray once complained? Anyone knows, what's going on?

Is the "official" MP dying?

yeah!

Most of those servers had been out for lots of time now.
No idea what that's all about, but currently we are left with one, maybe two servers alive and well.
Luckily we have FGMEMBERS' server now.

If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it?

Re: Is the "official" MP dying?
well I don't think they are trying to push so hard about killing MP.
The discussions I read on the forum are more focussed on trying to establish MP banning infrastructure. Althought they are using lots of argumentation based on how disruptive players, like "CooCoo" annoy the EDDF triangle, I think more motivations behind this could exist.
Mainly, as it has been recently made obvious, in FG, the banning hammer is not solely use to remove spam and similar annoyances. It is used as political weapon. And I see a lot of danger in this sudden need to have such strong weapon in the hand of a group of people that self-regulate with low to none of self critic and high lack of respect to the other.
