Project 3000 distributed Globally on TerraGIT

to Update (if you already have your terraGIT scenery and your favorite tiles installed)

Code: Select all

cd terraGIT
git pull
git submodule update

Hi All

The Project 3000 is a computationally generated location of Shared Objects globally that allow a major progress in the occupancy of Airports worldwide. (in other terms, many airports carry shared objects that contribute to a more realistic flight simulation experience)

TerraGIT has been now engineered to carry the P3000, not only in a few locations, but instead, worldwide.
https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-SCENERY/Project3000

An important change was committed before doing this:
P3000 added close to 4000 Airport Jetways specifications for statitc Jetways, but, frequently this were not accompanied by a terminal building, so these look funny. Also, essentially, Jetways are better configured in XML files (by discussion with D-LASER, P3000 main programmer).

This commit out-commented every Jetways as Static Object in the Set
https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-SCENERY/Pr ... 3fdb1a74e4

And then, the project was imported into terraGIT following the terraGIT structure (tile per submodule)

Feel free to test and enjoy. Noteworthy, there are 2 important caveats that are left:
1) Some places are massively developed now. This could impact FPS in lower spec computers. Feel free to edit your local version if needed.
2) Some rare instances the P3000 buildings can co-exist in the same location with Static (non shared) Objects previously developed. This is not terribly bad, but feel free to submit pull requests to eliminate the competing Shared object if any detected.

Have Fun

Thank you, IAHM-COL!
You want to have it in terraGit before terrasync has it? ;-)

I think you used the 2015 version of Project 3000
There's a new one with much more airports / objects:
http://media.lug-marl.de/flightgear/pro ... ep2016.tgz
It does not have any jetways in the stg files, but both versions still have
jetway extensions: "Models/lib/jetway_e*m.ac"
Image
some WED artist use them together with jetways, some don't.

I somehow forgot to include the Airports folder with all the AI ICAO.jetways.xml files into this tgz. It can be found here:

https://github.com/mherweg/Airports
(together with many groundnet files for startup locations and AI traffic)

A new release of project3000 is planned for Dec 2016 or Jan 2017
It will include updates since 9/2016 + 49 oil platforms.
Todo:
* replace the blue building with a nicer one
* replace the single airport tower model with a variety of 4 different tower buildings.

Actually. Thank You, D-LASER! :D
Great work.

I want to have it in terraGIT. period.

I dont care for terrasync. AFAIK, is a very buggy system, that fails to even have consistency across multiple FG versions. per example, by dropping SVN support the core devs have successfully broken terrasync for anyone with older FG versions.
I have done all I could possibly due on my end to give them my best recommendations and push them to best practices, to no avail. The only consequence I have is that they target my development and forbid it to be "officially" included. So that's the end of line for me.
If you are doing work with the hope that it ends up in terrasync I think you are really wasting a great talent of yours on that.

RGR that. Thanks again. I'll update today.

Awesome. I'll also update these into terraGIT

I updated the P3000 in FGMEMBERS-SCENERY with your new tar package
https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-SCENERY/Pr ... its/master

I'll use that for importing to terraGIT
Would you notify me on Dec-16/Jan-17 when the new tarball becomes available?

Best

I just released the 2017-03 version version of project3000.

Do not add it to terraGIT yet because I'll make a extra "terraGIT edition" of it where all elevations will fit to current terraGIT Terrain.

my PC was running for 15 hours doing "fgelev" for 0.5 million objects ;-)

I suggest you replace the project3000 included in terraGIT with this version:
