[SOLVED] MD-10 Nose Wheel Steering Problem

Postby SkyBoat » Sat Sep 12, 2015 4:04 pm

Hi All,

I have just built a new gaming computer (with the gracious help of JabberWocky) and I've discovered I can't steer my MD-10. We obviously need to do some sleuthing to figure out where the disconnect is.

Well... I think this could be a feature not a bug
MD11 are not to be flown on Joysticks, but on Yokes :D
(naturally a free speech joke!!)

It works with my joystick but steering is inverted.

when i select "Tiller Steering" from the aircraft menu it works correctly.

maybe a joystick or key binding issue?

Off Topic, but how about giving us the details of the new PC?
I'd love JWOCKYS help in about 10 years :)

On the other hand, perhaps, leaving Tiller Steering on would be the thing to do.

Problem is, he installed FG anew and forgot to configure his Saitek ... so FG goes all the time "who is this Saitek everyone talks about?" on him.

He also just installed Ubuntu for the first time. So, adapting to a new Operating System is part of the game, here.

@Skyboat

I am very glad to hear your joystick is back functioning just on time for the USA Tour.

Maybe you want to share your joystick.xml configuration for us to have as future reference, and mark this topic as SOLVED?

Best,

I'm running a Saitek but it's an old ST-290, and so far all versions of FG up to 3.4 have found it and worked with it.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Lester, check your joysticks.xml in the flightgear folder. A lot of joysticks and yokes work kind of with the generic joystick config and suddenly, when you put the path to the correct joystick into joysticks.xml, they got all the bells and whistles and fancy stuff and a whole new world opens.
