If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it?

So, is there a new binary on a ppa already?

there should be. I compile myself, but the ppa is usually updated.

Thought I'd run this by, I just fixed the metar url in my 32bit FG install by using the HxD hex converter on the fgfs.exe, doing a find and replace operation. It's pretty straight forward and it works on 32 bit FG installations. Link to HxD Converter https://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD

Hi, apart from the 2016.2.1, i now also did the 2016.1.1. They are both Windows exe files. For if you need one, here is the post to download:

Btw, i hear a lot of noise on the other forum that it will be solved in 2016.3. But what do they mean by "solved". If it is only changing the url in the binary (exe), then it is NOT solved. It is only solved when the metar url is in a config file (text). Can anyone using the nightly 2016.3.0 confirm what is the case? Is the url finally in a config file? Or still in the binary?

Since I still use that forum, I will suggest that.
Any chance you've done it for 2016.1.2????

Still in the binary. It is solved in the sense that new binary redirected to an updated URL.
Such fix is not backwards compatible. Also, it will break again if NOAA updates again

Well, that'is really bad news IAHM-COL. A programmer is not a good programmer by virtue of which language he does. It all depends on knowing good practice. Not knowing good practice makes one a mere scribbler, not a programmer. The mere fact of which langauge is used makes no difference. There are many scribblers among php so called programmers, as well as among C programmers. In fact, i have done C in the past, and if need be i will be up to date in a month. But i will not scribble, because i know good practice.
The bad news here is that the self proclaimed allmighty C programmers of Flightgear are nothing more than beginning scribblers in php. Really worrying.
Edit:
One more thing: How to recognize a scribbler? He exclaims: "It works!". Where as a real programmer would say: "It seems to work, but i still have to check many things, like security, is it future proof?, etc...".
The fg C programmers exclaiming "It works!" What does that make them? Exactly, scribblers.
Kind regards, Vincent
