I had tried a couple of tricks too generate the boundary with the whole.

The racetrack is looking quite amazing so far... but when I succeed creating the whole in the airport boundary, so the internal shapefiles are used instead of "airports:" landclass, then the taxiways no longer follow the terrain and sink and resurface... which is rather useless.
Will reconstruct with your updated dat. And explore further options to achieve the boundary whole
In the meantime, I pushed a first constructed racetrack to terraGIT
So Lesbof and others can begin experimenting with this.
