The generation (age and speed and capabilities) of the chosen Jet Fighter is OK.
If you get a very slow craft, it seems you can be good company for KB7 (read above)

But the aircraft (to be a participant) must be a fighter. Not a trainer.
We already completed a Jet "Trainer" leg before

https://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic. ... it=trainer

In other words, I strongly advise you discount both the BAE Hawk and the Yak130 from consideration.

If the plane in question was also used in other countries with weapon hardpoints despite it's being trainer?

One of the best planes I have for this event was the DH108 Swallow experimental DeHavilland built 3 of. Good cruise speed and fuel use. But definitely not a production fighter, even though it was slated to fly as an interceptor to compliment the Vampire.

I hadn't heard of it before, either.... but reading the Wikipedia article...
All three prototypes were lost in fatal crashes.

I just hope you don't have an structural failure at 10,000 in Flightgear. ;)

Since the three prototypes were all based out of fighter fuselages I'd say that nominates it as well.

Mine isn't quite as borderline, as they have seen at least ground combat in Iraq. I haven't read that the L-159 has actually engaged any aircraft in dogfights outside of training environments, just that it is capable and has weapons loadouts to do so.

Have we had a leg of experimental aircraft yet? (I'm assuming we must have....)

Oh BTW Happy Thanksgiving from the US. Image

Wasn't that more of a fictional and never flown prototypes event? I recall that my tiny Orca Jet was completely outclassed by the big planes. I could barely do 240 knots at 20K feet.

We should do an odd wing configuration event, sometime in the future for tandem wings, flying wings, lifting fuselage body and canard aircraft.

read again, Lesbof

Three Segments ---

Segment one: Is it an airplane? : Military Prototypes
Segment two: Is it a bird? : UFO and stellar aircrafts
Segment three: Is it superman?: Fictional aircrafts.

In leg three you are correct. All the others flew the Carreidas, a very fast fictional byzz jet. You went in the Orca-Jet, which is tiny, colorful, and much more slow.

OK, just spent a couple of hours on DRT, cruise, and fuel measurements and calculations...

So I found out that at FL 360, 73% throttle gives me about 400 kts GS and .67 Mach (230 IAS.) Figuring 900 nmi (about 100 nmi short of destination) gives me 135 minutes cruise. .89M (510 GS/299 CAS) is 106 minutes, and .95M (545 GS/ 322 CAS) is 99 minutes. To give a little fudge factor, I'll begin my taxi 45 minutes early for an expected 17:20-17:25 UTC T/O.

The sad part is that using actual measured fuel consumption (estimating T/O > cruise consumption only,) I'll need 419 gallons of fuel for the whole route. :| The L-159 has a 434 gallon capacity, but giving only 10% reserve means I'm 27 gallons short and I strongly prefer having 20% reserves. :( The happy part is that the L-159 has a refueling probe. :) The distressing part is I have no idea if it actually works. The relieving part is that I could always just cheat and refill in air. ;) The soothing part is that it has droptanks as part of the built in stores that give me a full 33% reserve. :D The wicked part is that when I edited the model to roll the nose wheel above ground level that all the stores got misset. (As did the lighting but I fixed all that.) :x But the superior part is that this just means I'll have to spend more time working on the plane and doing more test flights to confirm fuel consumption with the added weight. :!:
