We had some talk about the problem of "historical sceneries" during the Remembrance Flight and stumbled over the problem, that all scenery systems we use are based on actual, means today's scenery. All the sources we pull are basically using the most modern real world scenery, they can get.
Now, there is maybe a way around it: If someone makes a git like TerraGit, but only with the tiles, that have historical content, you can clone this the same way into a TerraGitWWI or for example TerraGItWWII folder and put it in the scenery before the main TerraGit folder. Of course, this works only if TerraSync is inactive. Am I right here or is there a wrong assumption in it?

Yes that is the main problem that FG suffers from with regards doing 'era' specific terrain modelling...
It's NOT considered a requirement and I'd suggest that's because of narrow minded thinking or should I say a focus on modern era terrain and plane set to the exclusion of anything different.
FG has 'seasons' which modify what you see on the terrain... yet no ones considered going back in time and flying over the Netherlands as it was, not as it is today...
I'd like to look down and see trenches where they were.
I'd hazzard a guess that if someone was interested and had been encouraged to make a 'fantasy' terrain, FG would by now have a hell of a lot better terrain and tools to make it so.
Terrain modelers are special beast, I've known a few but not one in FG.

Re: WWI and WWII era scenery
Well, but if I am right about the possibility to "patch" terrain at will if we only have "historical" in an extra git, we can work around it. Now you have only to organize some kind of project to get such tiles actually designed.

Re: WWI and WWII era scenery
This would certainly be nice. Even if the dirt strip still exist for instance now it is not in FG scenery unless it has an ICAO. I've wasted time searching and have not found one but I can see it looking in google maps so I know it is still there.
