Well, a psychopath, or sociopath, is somebody who is behaving anti-socially, so I don't see how this is offensive when it's just describing his post accurately.
Oh gosh... he still doesn't understand what is wrong with Maverick's first post or his own ones. I stand by what I said.

On the positive note - he has some sense of humor.

I somehow think all this talk of whether Orwell was quoted correctly, whether people are polite or not, whether such-and-such insulted whatshisname, etc, should be split off to another topic; we can argue about manners there and keep the uproar about FGFestival here.

Currently we have about 10 pages of unnecessary venting here; not a good image for thejabberwocky.net or for FlightGear.

@Simbambin

I'll try to convey the meaning of Warty's comments.

Question is: If the event happens in UK, what would FGUK do? Some of us have even suggested to invite the FGUK to ATC some of their zones.

Warty is trying to inform us that (In his opinion-- I think) FGUK does not operate under ATC -controlled event- paradigm. That he considers FGUK will not participate in such ATC event.

At this point I find very premature to stir what ifs. Will the event be in the UK at all?

If it happens, and FGUK does not participate with ATC or under ATC zones, I won't find that antisocial. Just a matter of preference. But that is just the way I see it.

On the other hand, we won't consider UK as not optionable, because FGUK preferences.

And yes. He has great sense of humour --and a very appropriate quote calling.

I wasn't calling not participating anti-social. It was his first message in the thread that was anti-social.

I think he is trying to convey the meaning that FGUK prefers flying without ATC control. I would agree with that assessment.

It does not take away that we like creating ATC-controlled environment, and that it brings a different experience to our flight simulation. Don't worry, wherever the event takes place, a group of sim-pilots and controllers interested in the same, we will coincide on whatever region is decided.

Will it be UK? that's the question of the poll that will begin soon on Curtis'

AFAIK, your vote doesnt go for UK. I think it is not the most strong contender. But a contender nonetheless.

Offensive probably, but with a reason, and certainly not clearly.

Kind regards, Vincent

I'm sorry Vincent. I failed to the point of your post completely. Thus I wrongly +1 your post. I apologize for myself, for that.
I am glad to know you intended no offense. I am also happy to know now that Warty is ten times the age you estimated, and thus we can hope maturity will be a virtue that can be part of clearing the misunderstandings.

I know you have never wronged FGUK or their events and intentions. I support you on that.
As I stated above, I also think that Warty attitude towards "ATC-types" is construed as rude. We'll have to leave with that. He says in his post later that it is just a grammar sensitivity of us.
And over the "strawman" comment... I am also somewhat shocked :o . I also support you on that as well.

As I said above, I feel we have crossed the line -- kind of bilaterally -- and thus an introspection of each of our attitudes is needed. I guess each of us thinking for ourselves. And keeping it for a private conclusion.

Well, now this is cleared up, i am not the type to look back. I saw Warty later on discussing reasonably. Let us have a positive discussion about how to respect the airspace of fguk together with a maybe if voted UK festival.

Kind regards, Vincent

well... I'll tell you a secret

Right now I am more inclined to vote for an european and a non european location to keep balance. And for Europe, I kind of like (root for) Scandinavia over UK.
Today's arguments having no issue on my feeling. I just like the organization Simbambim portrayed of the ATC areas. While leaving lots of fiords open for minigames.

I can't wait to see the poll running and be monitoring the votes' progress as a maniac.
