The Tide of Leftism has turned.
At last, after a decade of leftism, centrightism has prevailed in Argentina.

Now, I have nothing against Chavez. He was a great ruler, even if some of hisnpolicies were wrong. As far as I am concerned, while he lived, Viva Chavez!
But today, I can't help but be against the current system. It is increasingly obvious that socialism is failing. We are following in the paths of Cuba. However, what happened in Argentina may happen in Venezuela. In these upcoming elections the tide may turn. I pray and hope it will be so.
My Venezuela is ruined.

Well, socialist theories are all too often sold by very charismatic leaders who turn out to be quite popular. And it takes years for the reality to sink in and then it is not a nice picture. It’s an ideology that was tried at least in its basic tenements over and over for the last five-thousand years and it always failed. Whether it was a Pharoah Echnaton or an Erich Honecker (well, he was not really popular) or a Vladimir Uljanov Lenin, in the end, to be all equal in socialism meant to be all equally poor. Which is no miracle because the math is clear. You can sell an ideology for example to millions of voters promising him to take money form someone else and give it to them, but then there are not so many "someone's" with that kind of money unless you disassemble the investments in which the money is hidden ... which usually leads to high unemployment, currency value loss, social unrest and high criminality rates. So socialist leaders try to make up for it by entitlement programs based on enormous amounts of debt and then you get Greece for example. It's kind of inevitable, but still, after five-thousand years of experience, people still fall for it.

This is the first time in 17 years that Chavismo has not won a nationwide election in Venezuela.

"Venezuela, we won!" said opposition key figure Henrique Capriles, governor of the state of Miranda. "I always told you all, this was the way! Humility, maturity and serenity. Long live the people of Venezuela!"

And obviously....
Maduro recognized his party's loss and assured Venezuelans he will respect the results. He blamed the defeat on "the economic war" waged by political interests inside and outside Venezuela.

Venezuela voted in favour of the Universal Human Rights Declaration when it was first drafted. Thus, it has an obligation to follow it, as every other country in the world apart from Cuba and North Korea.

Venezuela has violated Article 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11a (All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law) (Everyone has the right to an effective remedy by the competent national tribunals for acts violating the fundamental rights granted him by the constitution or by law) (No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile) (Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him) (Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantees necessary for his defence) hrough imprisoning Leopoldo Lopez and other currently-imprisoned persons.

Venezuela has violated Article 21c (The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures) by 'adjusting' election results.

Venezuela has violated Article 25a (Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control) by denying food to the Venezuelan. On Thursday, we were driving a five year old home to his house when he nearly fainted. All he had eaten was a very small breakfast at 5AM, and it was 5PM. I know people who eat only one meal a day, because they simply do not have any more.

Verdict: Guilty of Human Right Violations.
Sentence: Venezuela needs help.

Well, there is math, there is economics, and then there is this strnage nameless thing, politicians and activists do instead in an attempt to sell their ideologies to the gullibles. So, we can calculate often, what would be the right measure to get back on the feet longterm, but we can't make this measures look comfy in short terms. So, the populists go and hike for example minimum wages, that gives them votes and political support, but it makes also the already soaring food prices even higher, thus speed up inflation and makes the money worth even less. Which means, the next round starts and as long as the same mistakes are repeated, it can only go worse. Very simple, but far from comforting.

p is the price for them
m is the amount of money
and s is the circulation speed

Well, that is simplified because in realtiy I would need to add a t-index and put a differential over it, but it's good enough. You see, if you increase the speed with which money circulates and nothing changes about the amount of goods and services and nothing changes about the amount of money, the prices have to go up.
Same if you increase the amount of money and change nothing else.
Of course, if you are a real smart politician, you tell people, they can get more stuff for free and try to increase the circulation speed, for exmplae by printing bigger banknotes, and the amount, for example by printing many of them, at the same time. Then you get four times the inflation for the same price ... duh!
