Ok
Also try deleting in your configuration files the directores

Code: Select all

Terrasync/Objects/e000n40, and
Terrasync/Terrain/e000n40

and then, try again

If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it?

E. d'Auvergne in devel.lists wrote:FGAddon is not that hard to monitor. For example I've been watching
all changes via the flightgear-fgaddon-commitlogs mailing list [1].
The traffic is not too high there. Also, you need to be personally
granted commit access to FGAddon and your name is permanently attached
to the commit. The repository is also far more accessible to be
checked out in its entirety and scanned manually or automatically.
The Terrascenery and sourced scenemodels database on the other hand
does not have such a high level of scrutiny or personal
accountability. So there is quite a different level of trust in the
system when you have a stamp of the author's real name and email
address vs. Author=unknown. Just have a close look for yourself:

$ fgfs --aircraft=ufo --airport=LSGG --timeofday=noon

If you have a close look at all the Geneva airport buildings, you'll
quickly see the different level of trust you need in these two
repositories. If something like this was added to FGAddon, that
commit would very quickly be identified and reverted, and the author's
commit access very likely permanently revoked.

Just what issue have you got with this airport?
There is no problem which I can see.
Thank you

Bo Lan in devel.list wrote:Hi Edward and Jonathan,

I went into the LSGG airport with UFO. If I guess right, this
airport has no even a single airport building. This airport is
located near a city. Someone put a lot of random 3D buildings
into the area around the airport
. Every random 3D building is not
good looking
, and some of them may have a highpoly mesh. People
with high-end computer may not feel the difference, but it lags
even more than many other well-made airports.

Those 3D buildings also cannot be banned by FlightGear's
Rendering Settings, because they are actually NOT random
generated. Someone made it and put in it. Personally, I hope that
if someone really want to build an airport, at least make a
simple terminal or FBO model, don't just copy and paste a lot of
models from somewhere else.

I hope scenery contributors and project managers can take a loot
at this kind of situation.

Sincerely,
Bo

I guess Bo is lacking appreciation of the many hours of work it took to construct this ugly airport.
Leaving aside, I have no idea what Edward means by Geneve as an example of how Terrasync is unsafe based on nasal based scripts that endangers computing safety of FG users.
AFAICT, all buildings in geneve are plain ac files, and no one single nasal exist there. Not even the jetways are animated.

you are missing all the points lego. In any case "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" or so they say.

I could point you to a good number of airports in terrasync I am not particularly impressed by. So what? are we going to be doing an aesthetics revision of Geneve now? To begin by example?

I suspect he's upset about the advertising boards on the jetways. I still have your custom version but I assume the same went to Terrasync?

I pushed the whole airport to terrasync. I am not taking time to make Alternative versions.

I suspect there is nothing to be 'upset' about based on aesthetics. If I get the thing correctly, the claim is that Geneve is an example of how dangerous nasal code is implanted in FG via scenery. Just there, I am totally lost of what we are talking about.
