Really strange. I came in very hard on that other forum, and they let the topic stay for a long time, while everyone goes berserk. But at the moment i post in nicer wordings, the topic gets deleted. Makes me wonder if they do not like people to see me being nice. Or would they be ashamed of all their own ugly texts? Anyway, really a waste of time posting on that other forum, when stuff disappears all the time.

This is what i posted right before the topic disappeared.

If anything can make me angry, then it is careless handling of private information. And Hooray gives strong reason to believe that that is happening at this forum (i'll come back to that). Yet it is not right to open this here in the strongest possible wordings, no matter my fury. For that i do apologize, especially seeing all the nervosity it has caused.

It all started with Hooray saying this very concerning thing raising many questions:

In fact, I have seen PMs where Jabberwocky admitted to other users in private ...

How on earth is it possible for a normal user that Hooray is, to be in the possession of private messages of Jwocky? Somewhere there has happened careless handling of confidential information.

1) Has Jwocky sent them himself to Hooray? Highly improbable, yet if so, then it is easy to show the PM's for Hooray.

2) Have receivers sent them to Hooray? That would be very odd, because he is no moderator. Yet again, it is easy to show the PM's for Hooray.

3) Have receivers sent them to moderators? A very logical thing to do. Yet why did they get to Hooray then? This would be careless handling of confidential information by the moderators.

4) Do admins make it a habit to trawl through PM's? Easy to do, but i am willing to believe they do not, when they now say so.

I know there are nowadays people that do not care about personal privacy, that is fine with me. But i do strongly believe that we must be able to trust our admins for a 100%. If there is any doubt cast upon that trust, like Hooray did in his initial statement, then that should be taken away thoroughly. I appreciate very much that Hooray tries to explain here. But the questions still remain. If he could only show that either 1) or 2) is the case, then that would immediately drop the doubt about carelessness with confidential information he has laden upon admins and moderators 3) and 4).

Kind regards, Vincent

I dare to incline myself to explanation 5)

5) Hooray is boisterous. He just wanted to give the impression he had access to privileged information, without being quite the case. While in reality, the PMs were respected as such, in every circumstance.

I think that's the case because, in the past, I have seen a few statements by Hooray where my initial reaction is "no, way, you couldn't have possibly done that!", and certainly, at the end he quite did not.

In the particular case of such alledged PM, I believe, he never got access to a JWocky PM. He might, instead, got access to the kind of rumors that are spread on FG underworld (Offenbach plays). I do, at the same time, believe that a lot of inner-circle communication occurs where the inner-circle members discuss their positions about matters, and are more frank and honest than with anything they let to surface (via forums or devel.lists). Maybe JWocky just PMed an inner-circle member, and wrote something that got then spread and interpreted between them "as such and such", and that is the level of inside-intelligence, Hooray noisily admitted having.

OTOH, all rejection to give a serious explanation of the words by Hooray or the mishap (either or), just cast, once again, just cast a big shadow on the honorability of their admin team. That's where concern remains, and discomfort grows.

That may be the case but it's no excuse...

I posted on this thread in response to a request for more information. ...to study the facts.

Hooray by hook or by crook admits to reading a pm of another person... that's not baseless it's a fact.

When I was sent your pm curt by a third party I deleted it straight away. ... I have no interest in reading tails.

However to read it, paraphrase it to other person and then use this half truth as a basis of fact against another person is despicable.

That is the courtesy and ethics I talk about...

And I'm not angry, just disappointed. .

I can't read the link, Vincent. I get always the message "You have to be registered".
However, seeing the livery and Thorsten's well done attempt in satire, while at the same time getting caught breaking the privacy of every user there, one can't help but feel again remembered the propaganda machines of the great dictators of 20th century. Stalin for example who sent opposition away argueing, someone who didn't agree to the letter with his wonderful take on the Soviets can only be a looney and thus had those people put in mental institutions in Siberia. Or Hitler whose Reichspropagandaminister and at times, funny thing, also his later Reichsführer SS wrote in the early days some technical great texts to convince Jews would be all rats and everybody not agreeing to the Nazis had to be a nutjob (thousands of those nutjobs ended up later in camps of course and that was when Goebbels' well written satire was not so funny anymore).

However, I didn't write to begin with what Hooray tried to attribute me. I suspected him to have puzzled something together from bits and pieces or just forged it from the scratch. Even the best SQL can't find you what isn't there ... unless one puts it in there in the first place. An admin can do that, of course. So ... the line "needs specialist knowledge" as "evidence" they wouldn't read pms of users ... is that a distraction from other things, they do over there?
Free speech can never be achieved by dictatorial measures!

I do remember some of that propaganda in film:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jud_S%C3% ... 40_film%29

In spanish we use the word: "espeluznante", which literally means "so scary your hair rises", and google translates it as "bloodcurdling"

If you mean the topic over there Jwocky, it is deleted. After what happened on my post over there, i think there is a more benign explanation for their behaviour than being in a strong hierarchy. I see it more as a group of individuals that fire each other up, like billiard balls. Oops i said balls :-)

I really do not want to be demeaning here. So also for the other end, take this as an observation, that you can use use to the best, or not.

There were several elements that caught my eye in the now deleted discussion. I'll have to work from memory here.

I saw many people being very suspicious. Words like conspiracy and feeling to be psychological manipulated fell a lot. Also someone mentioned that the group had been used for a psychological experiment once. That i can imagine very well, because this group really explodes by only pointing the little finger at them. Must be mighty interesting for a psychology thesis.

Though traumatizing as such experiment may have felt, really, do not get more suspicious, but arm yourselves with more humor. Let things slide off you more easily by not taking every comma too seriously. And what works best of all, do not take yourself too seriously. Laugh a bit more about things that would otherwise trigger anger. Therefore i think Thorstens satire is a good start.

Remarkably i remember two reactions of people that kept their cool. Guess what, they were moderators. If i remember well they were Gijs and Johan. That gave confidence that the problem at hand may really be no problem at all.

Kind regards, Vincent
