My first experience of Windows is actually V3.0 on a 286, in 1990 . Then the experience jumped backwards to Win 2.0 (which is the worst "OS" DOS shell ever invented btw) on my friend's computer.
I remember actually quiting Win 3.0 to go back to DOS to Norton Commander to do things quickly and easily. e.g. search files, copy/move multiple files etc. they are way faster to do in NC. WordPerfect was more efficient in DOS too, even had the printout that you permanently put on the keyboard for shortcut keys.
But the sticking point for Win 3.0? Minesweeper and Solitaire. The icons are beautiful to look at too at the time.
Fun with old software
