Incommunication
You are probably aware by now that I am banned to post or interact in Curtis' Forum. At the same time, with elgaton, I am centrally one of the coordinators of the event. Maintaining lots of important communication in the other forum makes it very complicated, at least for me to coordinate the event. We risk increasing the level of chaos that the festival potentially is.
I am going to request that the central thread of the festival be done here, therefore, and I think it is fair due to the fact here we can effectively communicate.
@Elgaton? Does it make sense to you?

EUROCONTROL?
@KIWI34
In the festival, as you had been made aware, we follow realistic tower positions. Looking at skyvector you can see there are the Switzerland LSAS center, and the Wenn Center LOVV for the airspace of the event.
You can provide one of them, but not both simultaneosuly
The geographic restrictions of the service are clear: http://www.flightsimaviation.com/db/controls/LSAS, and http://www.flightsimaviation.com/db/controls/LOVV
These are FIR positions as well.
It will be important for you to be familiar with the boundaries of your service, and also locate yourself in the correct aerodrome, and the correct callsign
If you are providing LSAS_CT, locate yourself at LSZH (Zurich)
If you are providing LOVV_CT, locate yourself at LOWW (Viena)
Note that typically the FIR can control all positions down to Ground on the airport if they are willing to, provided, 1) you don't have another ATC volunteering covering lower control positions, and 2)you are willing to do it-- since you are not required
Note that, you will need to know rather well the airspace limits. Such as elevation at which a pilot exists your center control and enters lower control airspaces.
Feel free to ask for clarification, and if you want we can schedule a session to chat about it in mumble
Finally, So we can coordinate, please clarify which exact center you will be providing and the times. That is, let's set an schedule
Importantly you could do something like from 8-9 LSAS, from 10-12 LOVV --but I really discorauge it. It is better that you provide longer services in one position. Also, it will allow you to take this time to better familiarize yourself with the airspace -- which I also strongly recommend
Best

Re: The Festival is coming close!! :D
Current confirmed positions
@elgaton
I dont' agree.
The decision that the festival was to be hosted in Austria-Switzerland was a democratic poll that lasted almost one month, and it had almost 50 votes on it. The popular decision was Austria-Switzerland, and this upvoted both France and Italy for a long shot. I don't think it is O.K. in the role of coordinator to subvert this. Therefore, any position NOT in Austria-Switzerland is company; not participation.
Pilots that decide to use a Company location do so willingly knowing they are rejecting the invitation to participate --for whatever reason they choose to. And, essentially, for us, it means, we don't need to coordinate with companionship. They are, effectively, out of the event.
On the other hand, well, it happens to be convenient. They will have fun servicing wherever elsewhere they choose, and pilots may have very convenient hops. Example, last event a few people control the Outside location of Montevideo (in Uruguay); it worked great in terms of convenience, but it was never considered those to be Participant locations! So, yes, people can choose to Support the event. or to Participate, but the distinction to be made clear.
I think, althought it may seem a very stubborn position of mine, it is not. What limits you to Viena, and I to Geneva, except our willingness to participate? I could sit myself on lets say Hamburg and say, oh ok... they are going to be there; but whatever! So, I think we shall center our coordinated efforts to Austria-Switzerland.
Please Let me know what you think?
So I suggest:
@elgaton
Here's a list of the files that need to be prepared:
LOWW - OpenRadar file, Route Manager file, ground network - I'm working on them
LSZS - OpenRadar file, ground network
LSGG - OpenRadar file, Route Manager file, ground network
LFLL - OpenRadar file, Route Manager file, ground network
LIPA - OpenRadar file, Route Manager file, ground network
I dont' agree.

@elgaton
Way to go!
Thanks
Would you grant me push access again?
I am working on LSGG ground. --plus other goodies.
Again, I don't do OR or Route Manager configs but I will be the happiest if someone does them
Thanks a lot!

I'm creating - as I type - the Git repository for ground networks/OpenRadar files/route manager routes:

Re: The Festival is coming close!! :D
It's a 48 hour event
So, that means if we coordinate well enough (which this forum split mess complicates) we can even work on reliefs.
Example, one person takes a position after a prolongued service by someone else.
Relieving, creates the possibility of providing extra extended periods of service. Very convenient when people leave on radically different time zones
@KIWI34, I had conversations with Omega for him to provide LSAS as well, on the times I am going to service LSGG.

@elgaton
Mid-October seems doable.
I propose SAT 17 at 17Z for about 2 to 3 hours
Does it work for you?
BTW, daweed is company not a participant of the festival!
Since this is your/legoboyvdlp/daweed's first time as ATCs at the Festival, I think a practice session is more than warranted - could mid-October be acceptable?

@Legoboy
sorry lego. but that is not a great answer
Basically, if we don't provide informative instructions, how can we expect people to know what on earth is(will be) happening?
I am going to ask you an interesting favor. Would you quote me in the main Curtis' Forum?

Like mardi gras in new orleans?
Like, an ATC festival in France and Switzerland?

Hi AIC
The Festival of Flightgear is the largest and longest multiplayer event in Flightgear. (48h straight)
It began 4 years ago, with the airH5 48hour service in EHAM during FSWeekend. This was a massive 48hour continuous ATC service in EHAM that coincided with the FSWeekend. And it was achieved by the coordinated efforts of 6 different community members.
METAL invited for a festival in Flightgear, idea that was succesfully embraced.
The First "Festival" Took place exactly one year ago, during FSWeekend, in Spain/Portugal. The event was a resounding success, and we agreed to make two Festivals a year. The Fall Festival coincides with FSWeekend (November 7th and 8th 2015) somewhere in Europe, while the Spring festival occurs elsewhere in the world, exactly 6 months after (SAT/SUN). The events are 48hours, beginning at 0:00UTC on Saturday and ending on 0:00UTC on Monday.
What does occur?
The event is a free for all event. To participate, all you need to do is come to the participant countries. There are several modes
1. The Controlled environment: People interested in ATC services coordinate with elgaton and IAHM-COL and create a network of ATC service accross the location of the event. (like Spain/Portugal, or Brazil/Argentina, and now Austria-Switzerland). Many enthusiasth allow the creation of a vast network of controlled airports and pilots can enjoy the most interactive controlled environments Flightgear has to offer. In addition, we effort, practice and study charts to attempt at realistic services. Pilots ARE NOT required to know how to interact well, or be good at phraseology. All it is expected is willingness to learn and come to have fun (as oppose to bring a troll attitude)
2. The controlled environment-- uncontrolled pilot: If a pilot wants to join the crowd, but is unwilling to be controlled, just shoot a message to the guys. We are in mumble and communicate very efficiently, so we will know rapidly you don't want to be controlled, and we will let you stroll around by yourself. We may warn pilots around you of your impredictability, but otherwise, its all good
3. The uncontrolled environment: We can't possibly cover every airport in Austria - Switzerland. Feel free to fly into or outo any airport of these countries within the specified time. That's a way of participate. Any aircraft is valid.
4. The games: an interesting thing you can do in the Festival is coordinate mini-events or games. Invite people to challenges (like the Fly the Santos Dumont Challenge by Lesbof) or propose mini flies in group in the area. These are tipically quite fun to be performed in GA aircrafts, or aerobatics --or otherwise particularly challenging enginges
5. The festival is open to all, and it is an invitation to come as a community and enjoy together the Flightgear Flight Simulator.
6. The Festival coordinations take place in the forum, mainly by elgaton, and IAHM-COL. Make sure to follow us up at http://www.thejabberwocky.net/viewtopic.php?f=31
